I wish to thank all of you, our friends, for your continued loyalty and support during these challenging economic times. One of our customers was so kind as to comment that, "The love shows in every flower we produce!"
Although it is now nearly the end of May, you still have a great opportunity to plant more in the garden and flower beds. This year we have produced even more of the flowers that go together for great combination planters. Remember our earlier conversation? Be sure to include a Thriller, some Fillers and some Spillers.
Here's my big tip for a great season: Water, water and water some more. Nearly 95% of the questions we get involve not getting enough water to a growing plant. If it is a basket, water it so the entire root system gets wet, not just the top inch or two. The same is true for containers. Pay a bit more attention to a complete watering and all the rest becomes easy.
It's a great time to plant sweet potatoes and to replace any vegetable plants that may have been lost. Don't forget, green beans can be planted as often as every two weeks until about mid-August for a constant and delicious reward. See you at our Tomato Fair August 1! Please feel free to stop and check out the Tomato Trial Field anytime throughout the growing season.

What a great time to visit Farrand Farms! Mom's face is going to light up when she sees all the color and wonderful garden options. Of course, Jackson Perkins Roses are always a great Mother's Day gift. We also have a very nice selection of preplanted combination planters. Moms always appreciate our full and exceptional hanging baskets, too! Want to make Mom feel truly special? Plant her one or several combination planters designed by you. Be sure to include a 'Thriller', some 'Fillers', and 'Spillers' (see my note from 4/21). Our staff can help you choose the best plants. Still at a loss for what she might like? What could be better than a Farrand Farms Gift Certificate? We'll begin pulling our 'Beauregard' sweet potato plants this week. It's time to get your tomatoes planted: remember that we have nearly fifty varieties! Try one of each . . . . just for fun!
